Australia is home to one of the world's most established Ukrainian diaspora communities, with roots dating back to post-WWII migration and a second wave since the late 1980s. Today an estimated 30,000โ50,000 people of Ukrainian heritage live in Australia, concentrated mainly in Melbourne and Sydney, with active communities in Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, Geelong and Canberra. This has built a genuine network of community schools, cultural centres and churches โ most of it not well indexed online, which is exactly why we've put this directory together.

๐ซ Ukrainian Community Schools by State
Australia has around 8โ11 active Ukrainian community schools, mostly run on Saturdays, teaching language, culture, history and often dance or music (including the bandura, Ukraine's traditional stringed instrument). Most welcome students from preschool through to VCE/HSC-level Ukrainian.

Undergraduate Ukrainian language, literature and culture programs within the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics โ available to complete beginners and existing speakers, with Honours and Graduate Diploma options.
